First Fondant Cake [not complete fail]

We made our first cake and it was an experience to say the least. I never knew making fondant was such an arm workout. My hands were dyed orange, blue green and black but thankfully it came off by the next day. The cake all in all wasn't GREAT but for out first time and going into it pretty much blind I would say we did pretty well. We originally planned on doing orange with blue detail and then the top layer being green with pink detail, but me not paying attention and talking to one of the kids messed up and made the whole batch green. so we pulled out some of the green and B mixed it with yellow to make a pretty awesome neon green. THEN I was not loving the green color so I made it a charcoal gray color [totally not on purpose since it was suppose to be black but we will ignore that fact] but it came out "okay" my sister [whom is very easily pleased] really liked them and already plans on us doing her kids birthday cake so I guess that means its okay [but then again shes easily pleased]. But either way we came away with some understanding of what to do [and what NOT to do] next time and both of us where wearing ingredients on our clothes [I actually had to change I was wearing so much powdered sugar] but it was fun :)
